RGS Guildford Dubai has marked a significant milestone in its growth and development, welcoming its very first cohort of Sixth Form students and their families for a special celebration evening. The event provided an opportunity for students to begin their Sixth Form journey while gaining valuable insight into the academic and pastoral support that will guide them through the next stage of their education.
Held on Monday 2 November, the evening was designed to inspire ambition and confidence and showcased the exceptional opportunities that await students as they prepare for A Levels and life beyond school.
Families were welcomed by the school’s senior leadership team, including Mr Matthew Pearce, Principal, Mrs Louise Ford, Head of Senior School, and Mr Tom Cannon, Head of Sixth Form. Guests were also joined by representatives from RGS Guildford UK, highlighting the close partnership between the Dubai and Guildford campuses. Visiting from the UK were Mr Jaime Lythgoe, Head of Upper School (Sixth Form), Mr Peter Dunscombe, Director of Higher Education, and Mr Mike Royds, International Education Director, who shared their expertise and experience in supporting students as they progress towards university and future careers.
A key highlight of the evening was the opportunity for families to explore The Foundry, the school’s new dedicated Sixth Form social and study hub. The space has been designed to foster independence, collaboration and personal growth, providing students with an environment that reflects the increased responsibility and opportunities of Sixth Form life.
Students and parents also met with A Level subject leaders, gaining first-hand insight into the academic pathways available and the high standards of teaching and support they can expect. These conversations allowed students to discuss their aspirations, explore future university destinations and begin planning for their academic futures.
