Pupils across the RGS Guildford family of schools have been exploring the fascinating world of deserts through a creative postcard exchange that connected young learners across countries, cultures and continents. As part of a shared curriculum topic, RGS Prep pupils exchanged beautifully designed postcards with students from RGS Guildford International schools, creating an exciting opportunity to learn from one another while developing their geographical knowledge and communication skills. The project forms part of the wider commitment to global collaboration across the RGS family.

Beyond the geography learning, the initiative provided a meaningful opportunity for cultural exchange. Receiving a postcard from another RGS Guildford school helped pupils build connections with peers thousands of miles away, reinforcing the sense of belonging to a truly global school community. The excitement of sending and receiving personal messages added a real-world purpose to their classroom learning and encouraged students to think beyond their local surroundings.
The postcard exchange was a wonderful celebration of creativity, communication and international collaboration. Through a simple but engaging activity, pupils deepened their understanding of the desert topic while strengthening friendships across the RGS network, demonstrating how shared learning experiences can bring young people together wherever they are in the world.
